Our Holistic Approach

Holistic therapy is  all about treating the individual person on all levels of their exisitence , splitting down our needs into a multitude of layers , treating those layers individually then bringing ourselves back into the whole once more. being mindful of everything that we do and the impact of what we are doing has on each other, our animals and the earth is how we create such happy , healthy, and loving puppies.

here are a few examples of how we do things differently from anyone else.

Reiki

Reiki (pronounced, LAY_KEY ) which means universal energy, is an ancient form of energy healing, that was introduced to the western world in the early 1900's by a master called Mikao Usui. It is a gently yet powerful form of emotional and mental healing, and has some physical benefits on the body as well. It shouldn’t be used in place of western medicine but as a complimentary therapy. When used by a Holistic therapist it will often be used along side other treatments, to enhance the whole human experience, of healing the mind, body and spirit. I started to notice that my animals would want to follow me into the treatment room whenever I had a client visit for a Reiki session, they were drawn to it more so than any other of the therapies I conducted. I then decided to start giving the treatment to my animals and found considerable differences in their general well being. Animals dont have the ability to second guess, over think or doubt, they just feel. and that state of total emotional surrender is the perfect way to receive the healing.

Our doulas and myself will administer Reiki to our pups at least once a week, they begin by preparing themselves to recieve and channel the energy, they will then sit and cuddle the puppy for a while, and gently pet them until they are in a calm state, they will then begin channelling the energy. A human session would normally last anything up to an hour, but with puppies they so small they only need about 15 minutes.

Locally sourced , organic fresh food,

We feed our puppies the way nature intended, not the way that is most convenient to us. we source locally to avoid unnecessary carbon foot print and aim to make as many of the ingredients organic as we possibly can.

Im not just feeding their basic robotic dietary need for survival, im feeding their mind, body and souls

Replacing fear with contentment

Its a well known fact that the reason we are afraid of something is usually because we dont understand it.  Animals have no way of understanding some of the crazy things us humans make them put up with.  for 350 days a year we expect them to guard the home from intruders, and they learn to listen out to any sign of a threat to their home and family.  Then for 2 weeks of the year, along comes firework night or new years eve, or the festival of light, and all of a sudden they are being bombarded by loud bangs and whizzes and kids screaming and crowds of people gathering, and all sorts of craziness.  We incorporate a desensitisation plan that introduces puppies to all these kind of situations, from taking them into primary schools to meet young children, to playing them loud sirens, fireworks and  other sounds during a time when they are at their most calm and relaxed.  this coupled with aromatherapy oils designed to contradict the desire to become distressed teaches puppy that they have nothing to fear.

Puppy pamper days

I have trained in Dog grooming so thought it would be lovely to get pup used to being groomed, before they leave us. So we have incorporated a special pamper day into their development package. Where they get shampoo, clip, claws, worm treatment, flea treatment, massage,  weight checks , teeth brushed, blow dried , cuddles and even given a warm drink, whilst we play very soothing music and aromatherapy oils are diffused to promote a relaxed atmosphere.
