The above spreadsheet shows the various costs incurred when you own a dog. These figures are based on the needs of a Cavapoo.  the totals in the orange are what it would cost you to have a dog sitter 5 days a week 8 hours a day and for 48 weeks a year and kennel costs if you boarded your dog for 2 weeks a year, say if you were to go on your annual holiday.  The orange  totals have the dog sitters deducted and the yellow have both kennels and dog sitter deducted.

We can't always take our pets with us, and we all have to earn a living and go to work but for your puppy, long days spent all alone in the house really isnt very nice.  Try to think about your availability, do you really have a) the time to spend with your new friend to offer them the companionship they deserve and b) will you have time in  your day to devote to one on one time with your dog , training, grooming and excersise are all essential for a happy healthy dog.

Dogs are expensive, good quality food, vets bills, Insurance policies, grooming bills, Kennel fees, the list goes on.   Make sure you can comfortably afford all these things, beacuse theres nothing worse than having a sick pet and not being able to afford to ease their suffering.  Many dogs are abandoned simply because their owners can no longer afford the commitment.

Holidays
